Today was another beautiful spring day, the temp was about 80 and there was hardly a cloud in the sky. The kids spent last evening at my in-laws, then today the boys got to walk in the Memorial Day parade in Onalaska, with their scout uniforms on. My father-in-law in like second in command for the Onalaska American Legion and always plays a big part in the Memorial celebrations. The boys enjoy watching and hearing more about the armed services. Andrew said that today while the ceremony was taking place, there were two bald eagles circling the area. I guess everyone commented on what perfect timing the eagles had, how fitting it was to see them during the procedings.
Since Rich and I both worked last night, we both slept this morning, I got up at noon, so I was functioning at least when the kids got home. Then this afternoon we all went back to the cabin, our little family gathering place, and had our first family cookout of the summer. The kids love going to the cabin, mainly because they get to run free there, there is nothing they can really get into. Although, being wild boys, they do manage to find things. Joe was about to climb a tree and out onto a dead limb they were trying to pull down, until I stopped him. They were all taking turns swinging around a rope with a hook on the end, only one got hit with it, luckily. Like I said, its a safe place, but if they want, the boys can always find something to get into. I had planned on taking pictures, but of course my camera batteries died with the first attempt. Maybe next time.
I hope everyone had a great day, whatever you did to celebrate the day and to remember those that have fought for us and are still fighting for our freedom. Take care.
