A weekend away

This past weekend, I was able to escape the daily routine and go visit a dear friend in Appleton. My friend/co-worker, Sue, and I headed out Friday afternoon and arrived at Kari's lakeside house in time for supper. Thank you Kari and Brent for hosting us and showing us a great time! On Saturday, the three of us ladies took off to explore the area. We toured a street fair/local festival, entitled Pumpkin Festival, which allowed us to get out and walk a bit and Kari found some terrific mittens to purchase. Then we continued our drive and toured around Lake Winnebago, the largest lake in the area. We found two beautiful parks to explore, a beautiful County Park and High Cliff State Park.

This is an outdoor chapel, found in the County Park. Tranquility at its best.

Sue had fun, trying out the play equipment.

Sue and Kari, thanks for posing for me.

Love the rocks, view from the water level.

Peaceful view of Lake Winnebago.

Isn't she a beautiful newlywed?

I love how intertwined all the branches are of this tree, just like our lives.

There were these great outcroppings along our walk, we wondered what changes there would be to this park in another 50 years, would these cliffs have eroded more by then?

We walked down these steps, to explore this wonderful area under some of the cliffs.

We also were lucky enough to view a spectacular sunset, as seen from the viewing tower of High Cliff State Park.

We saw large flocks of these birds, which we think are cranes. Anybody know? Aren't they beautiful, I just love the red areas around the eyes.

I would love to go back to this park, maybe on a sunny day, and spend more time exploring. Thanks again, to a couple of great friends, for a terrific weekend, relaxing and enjoying God's beauty.
