Summer has flown by

Wow, this summer has gone by so fast! It has been a summer full of changes for our family. I am now working full time again, a pm/night rotation, as many of you already now. I have greatly enjoyed the chance to work parttime while Becca a baby, thanks to my husband for that. Up until this past year, I was getting enough hours, that I brought home a similar amount of money as last time I worked full time. Now, in this economy, the on call hours have become very few and far between, so it was time for a change. Plus with Becca going to be in full time school now, it makes sense for me to return to full time work. This change is going to be difficult for our family though. For those weeks of pm shift work, I will only see the kids in the mornings to get them on the bus, for 4 days each week. Both Rich and the kids are used to me being here for the nightly homework and such, now it will fall on Rich to take care of homework, supper, baths, etc. It will be hard for me to give up control of those everyday tasks, I am just so used to managing everything, that to trust that things are done will be hard for me. I am going to have to teach Rich that I need things laid out the night before, in order for me to sleep well and be able to function in the morning. It also will be difficult for the kids, and myself. I love that settle down time at night, the tucking in rituals, the snuggle time. To not be a part of that for several nights each week, is hard for me. Joey and Becca also miss that, probably Joey moreso than Becca. I will keep everyone updated as we make this adjustment.
The kids all start school now this next week. Andrew and Joey start on Tues and Becca's first full day is Wednesday. Andrew started football practice this week and seems to be loving it so far. He has yet to take and real tackles though, we'll see what he thinks after getting tackled a few times. I'll sign Becca up for her first gymnastics class the next week, I hope she will like it. For Joey, we are still hoping to get him involved in either wrestling or karate this fall, we'll see.
Now to share some pictures from the last few weeks. Becca had fun playing dress up with our friends that came to stay. Her and Abby had so much fun and become instant friends.

We have had a few days of rain lately, which has led to some great pictures of rainbows. What do you think?

We could actually see both sides of the rainbow, plus can you see the second rainbow above the obvious one? We were all amazed at how bright the rainbow was, you could see, so clearly, all the colors. It was just amazing! My kids were busy making plans to get to one of the ends and look for the pot of gold.

I'll be sure to share pictures of the first day of school for everyone. Until then...
