The big work move

Wow, I can't believe that tomorrow is the big move at work. My dept is moving from our quiet little home on 5th floor to a bigger, new unit on the top floor of out hospital, 9th floor. With that move comes a new position for me, new equipment, added staff members, new protocols...so many new things. While I am excited to move to a new floor and take on a new challange, I am also very scared about this move, as are all of my current co-workers. We have enjoyed a quiet unit for so long, had a small staff that always pulled together whenever needed, supported each other, and fought hard to protect our little patients. Now we will have many new co-workers, more than doubled our staff, and have the challange of getting to know each other and merge staff from all over the hospital into one unit. I know we are all scared, intimidated, and unsure of what the next few weeks will entail. I have pictured many different scenerios, what will my first shift be like as a charge nurse on a "big" unit, how the pediatric staff will get along with the staff from other floors, how will we handle the new adult diagnoses that we all will be caring for, just so many different things to consider. Please say a prayer for my coworkers and I, that the next few days will go smoothly and we all will blend together easily and quickly. I'll try to update again soon and share which, if any, of the scenerios in my head came true.

My thoughts exactly...wish this would all just pass.
