New job and more

Well, I have officially started my new position at work. I have to say, I do really enjoy it. It is definately fast paced and my shifts pass amazingly quickly. I am in charge of our new unit, I assign rooms to new patients, I assign staff to each patient, I control flow of visitors and help doctors find what they need. I also try to help out my staff, problem-solving adn assisting where I can. On Thursday, I even had to do all the order entry for our new patients, since we didn't have a unit secretary that night. I like being able to help and problem solve, teaching and learning as I go. Only a couple of downfalls... I don't get as much time to visit and get to know the new staff and I don't get to work with my old co-workers as closely right now. Next week when I work night shifts, I will be charge nurse again but I also will have a patient load to provide for as well.
Andrew has been loving football, he doesn't ever complain about how hard he has to work in practice or games at all. I've watched a couple of his practices and I can't believe how hard they work the boys. I know I would not survive a single practice of his, much less do it 4 nights a week! Andrew should be getting his football pictures back soon, I will be sure to post the picture here for all to see. His other big news is that he made the Jazz Band at his school. He auditioned last week and made it!! The only problem this presents to us, is that he has to be to school at 7am 3 days a week, which means more driving and trips to town each day. It is nothing to make 3-4 trips to town each day, each trip taking an average of 20 miles round trip.
Joey started violin lessons this week, something he is really excited for. So far he has had only one lesson, where he learned how to hold the violin and how to pluck the strings. Becca is still loving kindergarten, learning more every day. This week's lesson....if your clothes are ever on fire, go to the grass and stop, drop, and roll. You didn't know that did you?! Oh yes, she is also practicing how to skip, something she has told me is her homework assignment from gym class.

Please send a "Happy Birthday" to our angel friend, Kendra. She would have been 6 years old on the 29th of this month. I know Kendra is missed by her earthly family and friends, and many are feeling a lot of pain as this difficult milestone is passed. It is also Cranfest this weekend, and her fellow singers are presenting a special tribute to Kendra, their missing member. I know this will be very difficult for her family, I pray her sisters can make it through their performances and that Kendra's Mom can find the strength to make it through this next week also. Please send prayers their way.
