Well, we survived the "Big Blizzard", we got about 17 inches of snow in about 24 hours. Everything was cancelled, from grade schools to the local colleges, to the government buildings. The kids LOVED their snow day, they were outside already at 7am. I don't even know how many times they were in and out during the day, how many times my dryer was loaded up with wet snowpants and gloves, how many times I heard "Mom, can you help me?". Here are some pics of what they were up to outside...
Today it is really cold in our valley, my van registered -20degrees on my way to and from the bus stop! That didn't stop the kids from wanting to play outside, I just had to convince them to come in after a couple of minutes. A couple of weeks ago, I was able to meet some friends for lunch. We went to the Shrine for Our Lady of Guadalupe, a first for me. What a beautiful place! I can't wait to go back during the summer to see the place in full bloom. One area is dedicated to the unborn or deceased children, it has a wonderful statue of Mary holding 3 babies in her arms.
And then there was a whole small chapel area that was for stillborn or deceased babies. I guess during the summer, this whole area is filled with pink flowers. Another stunning spot, I'm sure. All the buildings are made of and surrounded by beautiful stonework, I just couldn't stop staring and looking around. There was something new to see around every corner.
Be sure to check back soon, as I try to get caught up with my blogging. Remember to slow down and enjoy this busy holiday season.
