Christmas

Hope everyone had a terrific Christmas, we sure have. This was the first Christmas in a couple of years that we were both off of work for both Christmas Eve and Day, what a treat! We had Rich's family out on the Eve, had a great night. The kids all went sledding for a bit, even in the rain. They of course, loved all their presents, talk about some lucky kids. My favorite part was just getting to spend time with family, seeing everyone and having a chance to relax together.

Then Santa came overnight, adding his presents to the stack Rich and I provided for the kids. Each of the kids got a new sled, something they had been asking for, and we got them a Wii game system (not sure who likes it more, the kids or Rich). Santa brought the boys each a giant Nerf gun, the things are huge! Becca got a big set of Polly Pockets, has been having fun dressing and setting them up. I think her favorite gift was the Puppy in my Pocket that I was able to replace for her. Several months ago, she had lost her favorite puppy, named Popcan, and has been asking for new one ever since. After much searching online and paying almost 5 times what the new ones in the store cost, I got ahold of one and it came in the mail on Christmas Eve, just in time. To me it was priceless to see her face when she saw Popcan and to see her playing and carrying him around nonstop ever since.

Later on Christmas day, we went in to Rich's Aunt's house, to spend some time with his extended family. We spent 5 hours there, visiting and laughing together, the kids all playing together. What a nice, relaxing afternoon we had. Last night we just hung out at home, playing the Wii together. It was nice to find something we all could do together, even Becca.

Today now we will spend the afternoon with my family. We were supposed to do it yesterday, but my Mom wasn't feelng well enough to have company. We will have another terrific, large meal today and again have some great family time. I'm sure all the kids will be out sledding and playing in the snow before eating and until it is time to open gifts. Unfortunately, I have to work a 12 hr shift tonight and then double back to a pm shift tomorrow, YUCK! Oh, well, I hear it has been quiet at work, so should be a decent weekend. Rich is off yet until Mon night, he is hoping to take the kids out ice fishing soon. Then on Jan 1st, he switches to a day shift position, which will be a big change for our family. It will be interesting to see how he likes working days again, personally I think he will only last a short time on days before he is trying to get back to nightshifts. We did just find out that there might be a promotion in his future, to an investigator position. Please say some prayers that this happens, it is something he has been wanting for a long time.

Sorry I don't have any pictures to share, I honestly have hardly taken any this Christmas, too busy just enjoying the time to get the camera out, I guess.

We enjoyed our time with you all on Christmas!

I'm saying a prayer for Rich. He deserves this promotion!

Love you all.

Sounds like a fun Christmas! What a blessing that you BOTH were able to be off! That doesn't happen very often in nursing, and then throw in a police-officer-husband and I'm sure it's pretty impossible! :)
