Sorry for the long delay in updates, between work and sickness in the house, life has been hectic. What started as pneumonia for Rich just before our vacation, progressed through the kids over the last couple of weeks with a variety of viral illnesses, and has now reached me, giving me pneumonia....not fun. Anyways, I'm finally on meds and am starting to feel better, so now I can update.
Once we left Whitefish Point we went to Tahquamenon Falls State Park. What a beautiful park! I would love to go back spend more time there, exploring and hiking around. The obvious attraction is the Tahquamenon Falls, of which there are two different parts. The Upper Falls is the biggest falls east of the Mississippi, with Niagara being the largest. It had a gorgeous overlook area and just begged having pictures taken.
Do you see the rainbow in the middle of the picture?
The Lower Falls are created when the Tahquamenon River is parted by an island, and then continues down some rapids. We had the option of taking a rowboat across the little pond area to the island to get some closer views. What a riot that boatmaster must get to see every day, watching all these people try to row their boats to the island and back...we were laughing at ourselves and at others.
There were several different falls, all of which flowed over rocks. The rocks were fairly easily accessible for walking and exploring on, which of course the kids took full advantage of. They had never before played in waterfalls, it was very cool to watch.
This park was probably my favorite place of the whole vacation. I wish we had spent more time there, exploring.
We then started on our way home, stopping for the night in Green Bay. We stayed at a waterpark hotel, Rich and Andrew went for a tour of Lambeau field, which they both loved, while I played at the waterpark with Joey and Becca.
What a great vacation we had, if only it didn't have to end. Thanks for staying with me through all these pictures. Just think, I have another 300 that I didn't share!
