Beaver neighbors

Wow, I am on a roll this month, 4 posts in a little over a week! If you haven't checked here for a bit, make sure you scroll down and read what our family has been up to this week. That said, we were pleased to discover we had some new neighbors, just moved in over winter. Well, we didn't actually see the neighbors, but we did see and explore around their house.

It's a beaver dam, built right on the creek below our house!

The boys walked across it and explored the other creek bank, Becca and I stayed on the main side, exploring and watching the boys. We found a bunch of trees chewed down, from little saplings to larger trees.

We were all amazed at how high up the bank the trees had been felled, I can't imagine a little beaver hauling a large tree down into the water from that high up. You can just see the boys up along the top of the hill.

Then of course, the kids had to just play in the water a bit, out there waders for spring.

I'm not sure if this waterfall is natural or from when the DNR redid the creek several years ago, but of course I was drawn to it. So were the kids...

Hope you were all able to enjoy the early spring weather, I know we did. Till next time...

I love the pictures. The waterfall is so beautiful. Teagan asked me the other day "Can we go to friend Becca's this summer and go down the big slip and slide again?" I hope we can do a playdate again soon. It's been forever. Summer will be here before we know it.
