Ok, here are more pictures to share. To continue on our first day's journey, we kept driving north, on Hwy 101. The next town we came to was Torrey Pines. Some of you may have heard of it before, it recently hosted the US Open at it's golf course. We found a spot, called the Gliderport. This is a high cliff, where the ocean winds come up and create a terrific lift for paragliders and hang-gliders. It was mesmerizing to watch the paragliders take off by basically jumping off the cliff and then soar up and away. They were so graceful.
The view, looking back towards La Jolla.
Yes, that is a dog that is getting strapped in to go for a ride.
We couldn't believe what we were seeing!
The next area we came upon was Cardiff or Cardiff-By-the-Sea. This is a long stretch of beach, just begging to be walked upon. The tide was low when we were there, so there was a huge expanse to explore.
Looking in either direction on the beach.
We found a terrific, authentic Mexican restaurant, just across from the beach. It was called Las Olas, and was almost an open-air restaurant. What yummy food!! After sunset, we drove back to our hotel in downtown San Diego. We were both exhausted from the long day, but totally exhilerated!
The next morning we got up early, I mean 5am early. We had to move the car to avoid an excessive parking fee, so we figured we might as well go explore. We drove around Balboa Park, a museum complex with beautiful old, spanish architecture. I'll have more pictures later from there. We drove across the incredibly high Coronado Bridge to Coronado Island. We were able to find a little park to catch some pictures of the San Diego skyline in the dark. Sorry they are a little blurry, its hard to take good pictures in the dark.
Have you ever heard of the Hotel Del Coronado? It is located on Coronado Island. We drove past it in the dark, but I wasn't able to take a picture of it.
It was then time for me to go back to the hotel and get ready for my conferance. While it was a terrific conferance and I learned a LOT, it was very hard sit there, knowing that Rich was out exploring and seeing more. I'll share more pictures and his adventures next time. Keep checking back...

Um...only 1 question? WHY weren't you gliding through the air in one of those contraptions? Seeing, how I know you LOVE to parasail and all, figured this would be right up your alley! Tehehehe!
