Not again!

Rain, rain, go away, come again some other day. We have been singing that song a lot lately. Our family is so sick of the rain, just as everyone else is in the region. We got about 8 inches of rain in our valley this past weekend, our road was washed out in 2 places, only passable by ATV. We also had water seepage into our basement, no serious damage, just trying to save our carpet remnant from being totalled. Then we lost power both nights, Sat just for a couple of hours, then on Sun for over 15 hours overnight. A power pole was too close to the creek and washed away. Ya never realize how much you depend on electricity for everyday things. We were reading and playing monopoly by flashlight, the kids went to bed with headlamps on, no flushing toilets (thank goodness for living in the country, the boys made use of the outdoors), no way to make food or my morning coffee. Then just worrying about if the food in the frig and freezers would stay cold enough (it did). I don't think I would want to live that way for long. Our neighbors have a 2 month old, they had to make an emergency trip to the store to buy water to make bottles. Hopefully the next round of storms coming Tues and Wed won't be quite as severe. I kept reminding Rich that we at least had minimal damage to our home, no one was injured, and all of our families are safe. Good luck to all through this bad weather.
