Life...modified

Well, as most of you have heard, we have had an interesting week. Last Friday, Becca was playing with a friend and managed to break her tibia. She is in a full leg cast, from her toes to her upper thigh. We have learned how to carry her in and out of the house, how to shower and stay dry, and how to manuever a wheelchair. We have a wheelchair rented for the next 4 weeks, we give her and Joey a ride to school and we have a bus arranged for transport home.

Then comes the issue of trying to entertain a child stuck in a chair or on the couch. What is there to do? Well, one thing is to get her outside and let her sit on the deck, playing with our new outdoor kittens.

Then today we went to a friend's pumpkin patch, what a fun day that was!! It was REALLY muddy there, just last weekend, the whole patch was under 6ft of water! The Black River had overflowed its banks and washed over the fields. S was able to take a boat and float to his pumpkin patch! He told us that as he rowed over the fields, there were pumpkins floating on the surface, anchored by their vines. They had a golf cart there, so both Joey and Becca could get out and explore the patch.

Joey's favorite part? He got to drive back and forth several times.

Once we got home, the kids washed the mud off the pumpkins and now they are lining my deck.
