Camping expedition

On Friday, I went camping with the kids and a friend from work with her kids. We had planned on meeting at Wazee Lake, near Black River Falls, but when I got there, I discovered that they had no open sites for camping. I let the kids play for awile, it was the first time the boys had been to Wazee, they loved it!

Playing in the water at Wazee, they loved the beach.

We then went looking for a campsite, we ended up at Russell Memorial Campground on Lake Arbutis, just a short drive from Wazee. It was a great campground, we were close to the river and the regular toilets (my favorite feature, I hate pit toilets).
We set up camp with Sue and her family and had lots of fun.

Our campsite, my first time setting up the tent by myself. Not too bad.

In the morning the boys were in charge of lighting the fire for breakfast.

Then after breakfast, we let the kids play on the beach and in the water. The water got deep really fast, so they pretty much just played on the water's edge.

The view was really pretty, looking at the river that feeds into Lake Arbutis.

The kids got tired of this beach, so we then headed back to Wazee. They had so much fun playing there. The weather was perfect, the sky was clear, the water was a little cool, but still lots of fun.

Looking out at Wazee beach, absolutely stunning.

Joey and Ben, building sand castles.

Alicia and Becca, look at their castle and moat.

Then another co-worker stopped by, Chastity, with her husband, Alex, and their baby, Alexis. Alexis was so funny, she absolutely loved the water, was trying to blow bubbles with her daddy in the water, and just kicked around in her little floaty.

Sue decided to swim out towards the main lake. She is braver than I. For me, just knowing that the lake is up to 355 ft deep in the middle scares me.

All in all, it was a great camping expedition. We had lots of fun. I also enjoyed proving to Rich that I could do it, I don't think he had any faith in my abilities to set up the tent. Thanks for the fun weekend, girls!
